"Mrs. Trump plans to pay her respects at the funeral on Saturday," her communications director Stephanie Grisham told CNN.It is common for sitting first ladies to attend the funerals of former first ladies, as Michelle Obama did in 2016 for the funeral in California of former first lady Nancy Reagan. Then-first lady Hillary Clinton attended the burial of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1994.

Warm wishes poured in for former first lady Barbara Bush Sunday as word spread of her failing health.

Bush spokesman Jim McGrath announced via Twitter Sunday that Bush, 92, had declined further medical treatment and instead would focus on "comfort care."

Barbara and George H.W. Bush have been married since 1945 and had six children, including former president George W. Bush as well as former Florida governor and presidential candidate Jeb Bush. McGrath tweeted that the large family had gathered to be near Mrs. Bush.

From politicos to newsmakers, people offered prayers and good thoughts.

President Trump didn't tweet about the ailing first lady, but Vice President Pence and his wife, Karen, sent their prayers to the Bush family.
