Steve Kerr thinks it's "insane" that his decision to temporarily hand coaching control to his team has created controversy.

Against the Suns, the Warriors decided to let the players give coaching a try. During game breaks, it's not Steve Kerr coaching the team and directing players , but the players themselves that are doing it.

Steve Kerr was trying to spark his Warriors team Monday night, so he let his players take the coaching reins against the Suns.

The unusual move is still dominating discussion around the NBA, but Kerr thinks the story has been blown out of proportion.

"I've been quickly reminded today of what an insane world we live in, and how everything now is just a story and constantly judged and picked apart," said Kerr, speaking to San Francisco radio station KGMZ.

The NBA season can be a long grind, and the Warriors have been to the Finals three years running. Kerr mentioned that being as a factor in his decision.

"This is every single day for seven, eight, nine months depending on how your team does, and so everything gets pretty monotonous," Kerr said. "I think you've got to do your best in the NBA to keep things light and loose and occasionally throw the team a curveball."

The Warriors routed the Suns 129-83.

Reaction from the Phoenix camp to Kerr's decision was mixed. Guard Troy Daniels and forward Jared Dudley took the move as a sign of disrespect, but coach Jay Triano had no issue with Kerr's strategy.
