President Trump in a tweet on Sunday promoted his recent job approval rating in conservative-leaning poll.

The president said it's "hard to believe" he is at 50 percent in the Rasmussen Poll, given all the "phony stories and Fake News."

Rasmussen's daily presidential tracking poll had Trump's approval rating at 50 percent on Friday with 49 percent of respondents disapproving of his job performance.

According to the poll, 34 percent of respondents strongly approve of Trump's performance while 40 percent highly disapprove.

Most other major polls currently have the president's approval rating hovering around the low 40s.

In recent months, however, Rasmussen had Trump's approval rating in the high 40s and low 50s.

The margin of error for the new Rasmussen Poll is 2.5 percentage points.

Analysis: Trump calls Comey a liar yet keeps citing him as a credible source .
The president's selection of what to believe and disbelieve appears to be purely self-serving, rather than evidence-based. When Comey writes or says something that Trump likes, the president credulously spreads it to his 51 million Twitter followers. And when Comey writes or says something Trump dislikes, the president calls the former top cop an “untruthful slime ball.
