  Dog found dead in carrier during Delta layover near Detroit An 8-year-old pet Pomeranian has died during a Delta Airlines layover at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. WXYZ-TV and WDIV-TV report that the dog was flown in a pet carrier from Phoenix and was headed to Newark, New Jersey. It was found dead Wednesday morning in its carrier in a cargo facility at the airport, southwest of Detroit in Romulus. Delta Air Lines says a flight attendant checked on the dog about 6 a.m. The attendant checked again about two hours later and the dog was dead. The airline is "conducting a thorough review of the situation to find out more about why this may have occurred to ensure it doesn't happen again," Delta said in a statement.

It appears the Company had received news that one of their captains had been killed in a scuffle with the natives. In a very few hours I arrived in a city that always makes me think of a whited sepulchre. Prejudice no doubt. I had no difficulty in finding the Company 's offices.

Tragedy struck a Washington high school community over the weekend, as two football players were found dead within hours of one another.

On Saturday, the mother of Sayon Savorn, a co-captain on the Lynnwood High School football team, says she found her son dead of suicide. Less than 48 hours later, Ryan Truong, also a football player, was found dead.

Truong's died of natural causes, according to the county medical examiner. He was due to graduate Friday.

Both students were 17-years-old. On Tuesday, the school community wore yellow to memorialize their fallen classmates.

"It's like a double blow," Lynnwood football coach Keauntea Bankhead said. "Losing one, and then find out, and you lost the next one. And those guys were both my captains."

"I was so aware, and I was so close with him," she said. "But yet, he just could not, he like lost hope."

Missing soldier found dead after intense manhunt, police say .
Specialist Cayln McLemore was found in a wooded area of Camp Blanding, police said . McLemor of the Alabama Army Reserve was participating in a land navigation assignment on Wednesday at 11 a.m., but did not return, CBS Gainesville affiliate WGFL reports. Rescue agencies across the state joined in the search effort for McLemore, including the Ocala Fire Rescue and Marion County Fire Rescue. The Clay County Sheriff's Office told WGFL that over 450 men and women had volunteered to help in the search.
