A man who, according to his lawyer, is considered to be a person of interest in the disappearance of Cassandra Gross was arrested on an unrelated felony charge Friday night.

Thomas Stanko, 47, of Latrobe, Pennsylvania did not comment as state troopers took him into custody on a charge of receiving stolen property -- a count that's said to be unrelated to the case of the missing Latrobe woman.

Nobody has been charged in connection with the disappearance of Gross, 51. A search continued Friday, as state police combed through a property owned by Stanko's mother in Unity Township and a dive team helped search a pond on that property.

"He's not taken refuge behind an attorney. He's been able to answer questions, and he was willing to do so on Monday as well," Shrager said of Stanko. "That was something that he wants to do. He's anxious to get his story out there. He wants this to be resolved."

"That is his girlfriend. He wants to know where she is as well," Shrager said. "They had plans to do something. He kept texting her -- where are you, you know, we have plans. He's distraught. Imagine the person that you care about is missing, and people are asking questions about you. That's a double difficulty. He has nothing to hide. We are fully willing to cooperate and comply."

State police were seen outside Stanko's home in Latrobe on Thursday. Troopers with K-9s, a front loader and all-terrain vehicles were also seen searching at the home of Stanko's mother on a large amount of property in Latrobe.

The missing woman's 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was spotted near railroad tracks by an employee on a train, police said. The SUV was processed initially at the scene and is now in the possession of state troopers for further investigation.

"We did the best we could to gather information there, especially the surroundings around the vehicle, and then from there, we took it back here," Limani said. "It's a lot easier to analyze stuff when you can pick it up and move it around and things like that, so we'll take it back here and we'll be able to do other types of analysis on the vehicle."
