Mopar Highlights from the 2017 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

Mopar Highlights from the 2017 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on the outskirts of Chicago was packing some serious Mopar heat during the annual Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN). For Mopar lovers, the MCACN event is a great way to end the car show season, and being indoors and under one roof, it's pure sensory overload. Created by Bob and Vicki Ashton, MCACN assembles the very best muscle car samples of all the brands, not just Mopars, and celebrates certain themes and/or historical milestones of certain nameplates and even options. That's why we love the MCACN show — it's always something new and different year-after-year.

Dodge's new Shakedown package adds styling inspired by the Shakedown Challenger SEMA show car to the brand's Challenger coupe.

Watch This LS-Swapped Chevrolet 1500 Pickup Wave Goodbye to a Dodge Challenger
The old extended cab can really get up and go.
This cat-and-mouse game between an early-90s Chevrolet C/K with an LS engine swap and a current-generation Dodge Challenger SRT 392 with a ProCharger kit was posted to YouTube over the weekend. While we'd much rather see this kind of action confined to the relative safety of a drag strip, at least these guys had the sense to pick an empty highway for their shenanigans.

The package, priced at $995, is limited to shaker-hood-equipped Challenger R/T, R/T Plus, and 392 Scat Pack models. It adds asymmetrical black stripes that cover the hood, roof, and trunk of the car. Notably, the stripes bend around the shaker hood scoop, a feature that's shared with the Shakedown Challenger show car.

Additionally, Challengers equipped with the Shakedown package include white gauges and an upgraded audio system: a six-speaker system in the R/T and a nine-speaker unit in R/T Plus and 392 Scat Pack trims.

Sadly, the Shakedown package brings no additional performance features to the Challenger, which means Shakedown-equipped Challengers continue to use either a 375-hp 5.7-liter V-8 engine in R/T and R/T Plus models or a 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8 in the 392 Scat Pack.

A Palm Springs Weekend in a Dodge Challenger T/A .
Defrost with a summertime roadtripAlmost ten years on from its introduction, the modern Dodge Challenger remains an impossibly ostentatious car. It's a slab-sided brute often adorned with loud exhausts, bright paint, and big wheels, offered as a rolling tribute to the thunder-filled machismo summer days of the 1960s and 1970s. More so than Chevrolet or Ford, Dodge embraces this exuberance, offering enthusiasts an unprecedented lineup of vintage-inspired packages for every palate and penchant.
